A machinery distributor in Sidoarjo is waiting for spare parts from Germany. A packaging plant in Gresik needs a new production line component from Italy. A furniture maker in Pasuruan buys hardware from the USA and fabrics from Australia. If you run purchasing for an East Java manufacturer or distributor, or you are a foreign seller with customers in Surabaya, you need more than a freight rate: customs, duty and tax handled, delivery to the factory gate, and one team to call when something changes.
How Surabaya shipments work: goods are imported and cleared in Jakarta (Tanjung Priok for sea, Soekarno-Hatta for air), then delivered by road or domestic air to Surabaya and East Java. Services: IDX Import DTD DDP (air minimum 50 kg chargeable weight per air waybill; sea LCL or FCL), IDX Import Drop Point Consol DDP (from 10 kg by air from our origin warehouses), and IDX Import Port to Port with IDX Customs Clearance. Onward delivery is quoted per shipment. Rate pages · Quote app →
1. What East Java importers tell us they worry about
Two handovers, two problems
Clearance in one place and delivery in another can mean two companies blaming each other. With us one team quotes and manages both legs.
Unclear landed cost
Under DDP, import duty, VAT (11% effective) and income tax article 22 are in the quote, together with clearance and delivery.
Permits found too late
Raw materials, steel, food ingredients and electronics are often restricted. We check the HS code before your supplier ships.
Shipments too small to justify freight
Small, non-restricted orders from our origin warehouses can go under Drop Point consolidation from 10 kg by air.
2. How the route works
Origin. Pickup from your supplier where included, then air or sea freight to Jakarta.
Customs in Jakarta. Import declaration and release at Tanjung Priok or Soekarno-Hatta, handled by our customs team. Clearance is done in Jakarta for all our import services.
Duty and taxes. Paid inside the DDP price, or paid directly by your company if you import under your own licence.
Onward to East Java. By road or domestic air to Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Gresik, Pasuruan, Mojokerto, Malang and other East Java locations, quoted per shipment.
Transit times depend on the flight or sailing, the customs channel and the onward leg; we confirm estimates with each quote rather than fixed dates. For the Indonesian version of this service see jasa import Surabaya.
3. Which service fits your shipment
IDX Import DTD DDP. One all-in price from supplier to your door: freight, clearance, duty and taxes, and delivery. Air minimum 50 kg chargeable weight per air waybill; sea LCL (minimum 3 W/M per bill of lading) or a full container. The goods are imported through a registered Indonesian importer of record arranged by us, so your company does not need its own import licence for eligible goods.
IDX Import Drop Point Consol DDP. For small, non-restricted general cargo. Your supplier delivers to one of our origin warehouses, and the goods are consolidated, cleared and delivered duties paid, from 10 kg by air. Origin warehouses:
IDX Import Port to Port with IDX Customs Clearance. For companies with an NIB with import licence that import in their own name and pay duty and taxes directly. Onward delivery to East Java is added as a separate line.
4. From Europe, the USA and Australia
Longer lanes make the choice between air and sea more important. Machinery spares and urgent components usually fly; raw materials, consumables and complete machines go by sea. Lane guides: DDP from Europe, Germany, Italy, the USA and Australia. Goods from Australia or ASEAN countries may qualify for a preferential duty rate with a valid certificate or proof of origin; we check this per HS code.
5. Typical goods for East Java industry
Machinery and spare parts for food, packaging, plastics, paper and metalworking plants; see heavy equipment and spares for project-scale items.
Raw materials and additives. Many plastics, chemicals and steel products are restricted HS codes that need an import approval or surveyor report held by the importer.
Food ingredients and packaging. BPOM and quarantine rules may apply.
Electronics and controls. SNI, SDPPI and battery rules; see electronics import.
Furniture hardware, fabrics and components for East Java furniture and export manufacturers.
Restricted goods are reviewed per shipment and handled when the shipment can be made compliant.
6. Documents to prepare
Commercial invoice with clear descriptions, HS code if known, unit values, currency and the Incoterm.
Packing list with weights and dimensions per package.
Photos and specification sheets for technical goods.
Certificate or proof of origin if you want a preferential duty rate.
MSDS for chemicals, liquids and anything with batteries.
Your NIB with import licence and permits, if importing in your own name.
7. Quotes and currency
Quotes are issued in Indonesian rupiah (IDR); a USD reference amount can be shown on request. Indicative prices are on our rate pages and in the IndoExpress quote app; the final figure, including delivery to East Java, is confirmed after we check the commercial invoice and packing list. Duty and taxes follow the HS code and customs value: see Indonesia import duty and tax.
8. For foreign sellers with customers in East Java
If you sell from Europe, the USA or Australia to a buyer in Surabaya, your buyer may not hold an import licence, or may simply prefer a delivered price. Under IDX Import DTD DDP you can offer one landed, duty-paid figure to the buyer’s gate, with the import handled through a registered Indonesian importer of record arranged by us. Agree the Incoterm and the consignee details before the invoice is issued, and send us the draft invoice and packing list so we can check the HS codes and any permit needs first. More: how to ship to Indonesia as a foreign seller.
9. How a Surabaya shipment runs
Request with goods, weights, origin, East Java address and invoice value.
Check of HS codes, permits and the right service.
Written quote covering both the international leg and delivery to East Java.
Booking in our app, with your PO number and documents uploaded.
Freight, clearance in Jakarta and delivery to your gate.
No. Import clearance is done in Jakarta, at Tanjung Priok for sea cargo or Soekarno-Hatta for air cargo. The goods are then delivered to Surabaya and East Java by road or domestic air, quoted per shipment.
How do the goods get from Jakarta to my factory in Sidoarjo or Gresik?
By road or domestic air, depending on urgency and size. The onward leg is quoted per shipment with your delivery address.
What is the smallest shipment you handle?
Under IDX Import DTD DDP by air, 50 kg chargeable weight per air waybill. Small non-restricted shipments from our origin warehouses can go under IDX Import Drop Point Consol DDP from 10 kg by air.

Yes. With an NIB with import licence you can use IDX Import Port to Port and IDX Customs Clearance, pay duty and taxes directly, and add onward delivery to East Java.
Can you ship raw materials that need an import approval?
They are reviewed per shipment. Restricted raw materials usually need the approval or surveyor report held by the importer before shipment.

In which currency do you quote?
