DDP Shipping: India to Indonesia

DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) shipping from India to Indonesia for Indian exporters, manufacturers and brands selling to Indonesian buyers. One all-in quote covers the freight from India, Indonesian customs clearance, import duty and taxes, and delivery to your buyer’s door, so your customer receives the goods without having to arrange the import side.

What we offer from India: IDX Import DTD DDP by air, minimum 50 kg chargeable weight per air waybill, and by sea as LCL (minimum 3 W/M per bill of lading) or FCL (20ft/40ft).
What we do not offer from India: a drop point or consolidation warehouse. Every India shipment is quoted door to door or port to door.

1. Who this is for

Indian exporters who have agreed DDP terms with an Indonesian customer, D2C and B2B brands opening the Indonesian market, distributors replenishing stock for an Indonesian reseller, and manufacturers sending spare parts or samples to a plant in Indonesia. Many Indonesian buyers, such as smaller companies and online sellers, have no import licence of their own; DDP lets you sell to them on a landed, duty-paid basis. If your buyer prefers to import in its own name, see section 8.

2. Typical goods we move from India to Indonesia

Textiles, yarn & garments

Cotton yarn, fabrics, home textiles and apparel. Several textile and garment HS codes need an import approval and a pre-shipment surveyor report, so we check the HS code first.

Machinery & engineering goods

Pumps, valves, motors, castings, forgings, auto components and spare parts. Usually general cargo; used or remanufactured machinery follows separate rules.

Chemicals, dyes & pigments

Organic chemicals, dyestuffs, pigments and resins. An MSDS is required, and dangerous goods are quoted separately and only where the carrier accepts them.

Pharma, cosmetics & food

Medicines, supplements, cosmetics, spices and processed food fall under BPOM and, for many foods, quarantine. The Indonesian permit holder must be in place before booking.

Steel, ceramics & building materials

Steel products, tiles, sanitaryware and fittings. Many steel and some ceramic HS codes are restricted (SNI and/or import approval).

Handicrafts & lifestyle goods

Brass and wooden handicrafts, rugs, incense and imitation jewellery. Wooden items and packaging may need fumigation or phytosanitary documents.

3. Ports and airports we quote from

Sea: Nhava Sheva (JNPT) / Mumbai, Mundra, Chennai and Kolkata, to Tanjung Priok, Jakarta. Air: Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Chennai (MAA) and Bengaluru (BLR), to Soekarno-Hatta, Jakarta. Pickup from your factory or warehouse in India can be included; tell us the pickup PIN code. Other Indian gateways, such as Hyderabad or Ahmedabad, can be checked on request.

Indonesian customs clearance takes place in Jakarta: at Tanjung Priok for sea cargo and at Soekarno-Hatta for air cargo. Delivery to an address in Jakarta is part of the DDP quote; delivery to other cities such as Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang, Medan or Bali is quoted per shipment. Transit times depend on the sailing or flight schedule and are confirmed with each quote.

4. What the DDP quote covers

  1. Origin. Pickup and export formalities in India where included in the quote, then air or sea freight to Jakarta.
  2. Customs. The Indonesian import declaration and clearance at Tanjung Priok or Soekarno-Hatta, handled by our customs team.
  3. Duty and taxes. import duty, VAT (11% effective) and income tax article 22 (PPh 22), settled as part of the DDP price. The exact amounts depend on the HS code and the customs value of the goods.
  4. Delivery. Port or airport handling in Jakarta and delivery to the consignee’s address.

Under DDP the goods are imported through a registered Indonesian importer of record arranged by us, so the buyer does not need its own import licence for general cargo. See importer of record in Indonesia for how this works.

5. Import duty and the ASEAN–India FTA (AIFTA)

India and Indonesia are both parties to the ASEAN–India Trade in Goods Agreement (AIFTA). Goods that meet the AIFTA rules of origin may qualify for a preferential import duty rate, but only with a valid Form AI certificate of origin issued by the authorised Indian body, with details that match the invoice and shipping documents. Eligibility is confirmed per shipment against the HS code; if the Form AI is missing, late or inconsistent, the general duty rate applies. The preference only affects import duty: VAT (11% effective) and income tax article 22 still apply. More detail: Indonesia import duty and tax.

6. Documents to prepare

7. Restricted goods (lartas) and permits

Some products need an Indonesian permit or certification before they can be imported, for example SNI certification, a pre-shipment surveyor report (LS), BPOM registration for food, drugs and cosmetics, quarantine clearance, or SDPPI certification for radio and telecom devices. These must exist before the goods leave India: a surveyor report cannot be obtained after the cargo has arrived in Jakarta. We review restricted goods shipment by shipment and handle them when the shipment can be made compliant; we do not quote them blind. Background: selling to Indonesia without a local import licence.

8. If your buyer has its own import licence

An Indonesian company holding an NIB with import licence can import in its own name. We then provide IDX Import Port to Port (freight from India to Jakarta) together with IDX Customs Clearance (declaration and release in Jakarta), and the buyer pays duty and taxes directly. This often suits regular B2B flows; DDP suits buyers without a licence and sellers who want to offer one landed price. See customs clearance in Indonesia.

9. Quotes, currency and booking

Quotes are issued in Indonesian rupiah (IDR); a USD reference amount can be shown on request. Indicative prices are on our rate pages and in the IndoExpress quote app; the final DDP figure is confirmed after we check the commercial invoice and packing list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a drop point or consolidation warehouse in India?
No. From India we quote IDX Import DTD DDP door to door: by air from 50 kg chargeable weight per air waybill, or by sea as LCL or FCL. Smaller lots for the same buyer can be combined into one air waybill to reach the minimum.
What is the minimum for DDP air freight from India?
50 kg chargeable weight per air waybill. Chargeable weight is the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight (L × W × H in cm / 6,000).
Can my goods get a lower import duty under AIFTA?
Possibly. A preferential rate needs goods that meet the AIFTA origin rules and a valid Form AI certificate of origin; we confirm it per shipment against the HS code. VAT and income tax article 22 still apply.
Which taxes are included in the DDP price?
Import duty, VAT (11% effective) and income tax article 22, calculated from the HS code and customs value, plus customs clearance and delivery. The quote lists exactly what is included.
Do you deliver outside Jakarta?
Yes. Customs clearance is done in Jakarta (Tanjung Priok or Soekarno-Hatta); delivery to other cities and islands is quoted per shipment.
Can you ship pharmaceuticals or food from India?
These are restricted goods: BPOM and, for many foods, quarantine requirements apply, and the permits must exist before shipment. Send us the product details and we review it per shipment.
In which currency do you quote?
In Indonesian rupiah (IDR). A USD reference amount can be shown on request.
