1. Two ways to ship DDP from Hong Kong

IDX Import Drop Point Consol DDP

Best for e-commerce stock, samples and small B2B orders. The goods are dropped at our Hong Kong warehouse and consolidated with other shipments. Minimum 10 kg (air) or 1 CBM (sea). The price is all-in: freight, Indonesian clearance, duty, taxes and delivery to the address.

IDX Import DTD DDP

Best for larger, regular or permit-dependent shipments. We pick up from your address in Hong Kong and ship on a dedicated air waybill (from 50 kg) or bill of lading (sea LCL or FCL), cleared and delivered duty paid.

2. How the Hong Kong drop point works

  1. Book. Send the goods description, quantity, weight, dimensions and value through the app or WhatsApp.
  2. Receive the warehouse address and marking. Each carton must carry the marking we issue for your booking, so it can be matched on arrival at the warehouse.
  3. Deliver. You or your supplier deliver the cartons to our Hong Kong warehouse with the commercial invoice and packing list.
  4. Check and confirm. We weigh and measure the cartons and confirm the final figure based on the actual weight or volume and the documents.
  5. Ship, clear and deliver. The consolidated shipment is cleared in Jakarta and delivered to the consignee’s address.

3. Typical goods we move from Hong Kong to Indonesia

Electronics & components

Components, accessories, IT hardware and gadgets. Anything with a radio function (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular) needs SDPPI certification in Indonesia.

Mobile phones & tablets

Need SDPPI certification and IMEI registration in Indonesia. Not accepted through the drop point; reviewed per shipment as door to door.

Watches, jewellery & accessories

High-value small items. Declare the real value and origin; customs value drives duty and taxes.

Fashion, bags & samples

Garments, bags, footwear and showroom samples. Some garment and footwear HS codes need an import approval or surveyor report.

Toys & baby products

Toys are subject to mandatory SNI in Indonesia, so they are restricted goods and reviewed before booking.

Cosmetics & health products

Need BPOM registration by an Indonesian holder before import; reviewed per shipment, not through the drop point.

4. Hong Kong is a re-export hub: origin decides the duty

Much of what ships from Hong Kong is made in mainland China or elsewhere in Asia. Indonesian customs assesses import duty on the country of origin, not the country the goods ship from. Goods made in China and shipped from Hong Kong are China-origin goods. A preference under the ASEAN–China FTA is only possible with a valid Form E whose details and shipping route meet the agreement’s rules, confirmed per shipment. Goods actually manufactured in Hong Kong may qualify for a preferential tariff only where a trade agreement applies and a valid certificate of origin is presented; we confirm this per shipment. Without supporting documents the general rate applies, and VAT (11% effective) and income tax article 22 apply in every case. The invoice must state the true origin; we do not change it. See Indonesia import duty and tax and DDP shipping China to Indonesia.

5. Pickup, ports and delivery

For door-to-door shipments we pick up across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories and ship by air from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) or by sea from the Kwai Tsing container terminals. Indonesian customs clearance takes place in Jakarta: at Soekarno-Hatta for air cargo and Tanjung Priok for sea cargo. Delivery to an address in Jakarta is part of the quote; delivery to other cities such as Surabaya, Bandung, Medan, Batam or Bali is quoted per shipment. Transit times depend on the flight or sailing schedule and are confirmed with each quote.

6. What the DDP price covers

Freight from Hong Kong, the Indonesian import declaration and clearance, import duty, VAT (11% effective) and income tax article 22 (PPh 22), handling in Jakarta and delivery to the consignee. The exact duty and tax amounts depend on the HS code and the customs value. Under DDP the goods are imported through a registered Indonesian importer of record arranged by us, so the buyer does not need its own import licence for general cargo. See importer of record in Indonesia.

7. Documents to prepare

8. Restricted goods (lartas)

The drop point accepts general cargo that needs no Indonesian import permit. Goods that need SNI, a pre-shipment surveyor report (LS), BPOM, quarantine clearance or SDPPI certification must have those permits in place before they leave Hong Kong; a surveyor report cannot be obtained after arrival in Jakarta. We review restricted goods per shipment as door to door and handle them when the shipment can be made compliant. Background: selling to Indonesia without a local import licence.

9. Quotes, currency and booking

Quotes are issued in Indonesian rupiah (IDR); a USD reference amount can be shown on request. Indicative prices are on our rate pages and in the IndoExpress quote app; the final figure is confirmed after we check the invoice and packing list. If your Indonesian buyer holds an NIB with import licence and prefers to import in its own name, we can quote IDX Import Port to Port with IDX Customs Clearance instead.
